Juvenile badminton for 2010 ended on Friday 17th of December and will restart in January when the schools reopen.

Intercounty Competition

Well done to all the Kilmacthomas players who represented Waterford in the recent intercounty competition in Killarney. In the u17 team we had Aoife Behan and Sinead Skehan, who both played very well.Conor Brown,Stephen Walsh and Angela Flynn all played on the u15 team and picked up some vital points for Waterford with some top class badminton. We had 6 players on the u13 team,Bill Brennan,T.J. Veale,Sean Veale,Oisin Kiely,Eileen Flynn and Lauren Galvin. This was the first time for these players to be playing in front of a big audience and they acquitted themselves very well. Unfortunately the snow interrupted play on the day but all these players will be back in Killarney in February for round 2 of these championships.

Schools Competition

Well done to all the Kilmac players who represented St. Declans College in the the schools competition in Lismore on the 17th of November. On the day 2 teams won through and will represent Waterford in the Munster schools finals in February.A big thank you to Miss Martin who organised the teams on the day and sent a total of 10 teams to the competition.

A large contingent of our Friday night players attended the recent Irish Open in Baldoyle. 28 members set off by bus early on Saturday morning to see some of Irelands finest players take on the best of the European players. Unfortunately there were no Irish successes in the finals but the juveniles were treated to some top class badminton. Well done to the members of our juvenile club who played in the recent mens and ladies adult leagues. Conor Brown and Stephen Walsh were on the Kilmac team that won section B on the mens league.Ryan Kirwan and Ryan Gallagher subbed on the Kilmac team in section D and played very well in their matches.Aoife Behan played for the Kilmac ladies team in section D in Dunmore and gave a fine display.

2011

In 2011 we have plenty to look forward to.First up is the intercounty competition in Killarney. Then we have the county championships in Lismore where we will be favourites to retain most of the titles we won last year. Following that we will have the Munster finals in the schools competitions and hopefully our 2 teams will qualify for the All Ireland finals in March.

Badminton will continue in 2011 on Wednesday nights for our primary school members and Friday nights for our Secondary school players.
